For as long as I can remember, I've been drawn to aesthetic products and skincare. I have incredibly sensitive skin and have tried many different brands. Initially, I was drawn to the beautiful designer soaps and colorful packaging, but I missed more transparency and knowledge about the ingredients used.

I have a background in the design industry and have worked with brand identity, product development and management in Denmark and China for many years.

It was in China that I was introduced to the more holistic approach to life, including yoga and gua sha massage, which today blends well in both my private and professional life.

After a break from the design industry, I missed developing products and being creative, but I was also aware that I didn't want to compromise my values. Good quality and sustainability are at the heart of Mellow Minds and the two values I constantly strive to develop and learn from.

So I went into the kitchen to experiment with solid soap for myself, which was initially a leisure project. After a long process of recipe development and my uncompromising approach to raw material selection, I cracked the code on the right formula. Friends and family then brought home stacks of soap bars, and suddenly things took off with designer markets and retailers at home and abroad.

I like the slowness of the process, and sometimes I also pause development if I don't have the right gut feeling. One good thing is that I've decided not to come out with x number of products a year, work by collections, or make products that I can't see the point of, but that might sell well. That way, Mellow Mind only consists of the best - according to me.

With love, Maria
