Benefits of using rosemary oil for hair

An often overlooked part of our beauty routine is our hair and scalp, but it's important to remember that a healthy scalp is the key to beautiful, strong hair. A natural way to care for your hair and scalp is by using rosemary hair oil .

In this blog post, we will delve into the benefits of rosemary hair oil and how it can improve your hair and scalp health.

ROSEMARY OIL FOR HAIR: A NATURAL SOLUTION

Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) is an aromatic evergreen herb that belongs to the Lamiaceae family, which also includes other well-known herbs such as mint, basil, lavender, and sage.

The plant originally comes from the Mediterranean region and is today cultivated in many parts of the world for its culinary, medicinal and cosmetic uses.

A popular ingredient in natural beauty and hair care products, the oil is extracted from the leaves of the rosemary plant and is rich in antioxidants, essential fatty acids, and other nutrients that are beneficial for the hair and scalp.

BENEFITS OF USING ROSEMARY OIL FOR HAIR

1/ PROMOTES HAIR GROWTH

Rosemary hair oil can help stimulate blood circulation in the scalp, leading to better nourishment of the hair follicles and thus promoting hair growth. Several studies have shown that rosemary oil can be as effective as Minoxidil, a commonly used hair loss drug, but without the same side effects ( see source* ).

In this before/after picture you can see my, Maria - founder of Mellow Mind, own results from using Mellow Minds Hair & Scalp Oil 1-2 times a week for 2 months.

2/ COMBATS DANDRUFF AND DRY SCALP

Thanks to its antibacterial properties, rosemary oil can help fight dandruff and dry scalp. The oil can also help maintain a healthy balance of the scalp's natural oils and reduce inflammation, leading to a healthier scalp.

3/ STRENGTHENS HAIR

Rosemary hair oil is rich in antioxidants that help protect hair from free radical damage, which can lead to hair loss and poor hair quality. The oil also helps strengthen the hair's keratin structure, making hair stronger and more resistant to breakage and damage.

4/ IMPROVES HAIR'S SHINE AND APPEARANCE

Regular use of rosemary hair oil can help improve the shine and texture of your hair. The oil is moisturizing and helps seal in moisture, making it more supple and shiny.

HOW TO USE ROSEMARY HAIR OIL

To achieve the best results with rosemary hair oil, we recommend that you use the oil as a scalp treatment and follow these steps:

1/ Massage the oil into the scalp: Apply 1-2 pipettes of oil in divided sections where you want increased hair growth or have delicate and dry areas. Massage with your fingertips in circular motions or with the Mellow Minds Gua Sha comb to stimulate blood circulation and promote the absorption of the nutrients from the oil.

2/ Distribute the oil throughout the lengths: Then distribute the oil evenly through your hair from roots to ends. Make sure to cover all areas, especially if you have dry, damaged or frizzy hair.

3/ Leave the oil in: Leave the rosemary hair oil in your hair and scalp for at least 2-3 hours, or even better, leave it in overnight as an overnight scalp treatment. This gives the oil time to penetrate deep into your scalp and hair. If you have long hair, we recommend that you tie it up with a silk scrunchie to protect your hair even more.

4/ Wash your hair thoroughly: After letting the oil work, wash your hair with a mild shampoo bar and finish with a conditioner bar to seal the hair strands.

HOW FAST WILL YOU SEE RESULTS WITH ROSEMARY OIL?

As with anything else, it's important to use the oil regularly and follow the recommended steps to achieve the best results.

For visible results, it is recommended to use rosemary hair oil 1-2 times a week as a hair treatment. If you have very dry or damaged hair, you can increase the frequency to 2-3 times a week.

It's no surprise that at Mellow Mind we love rosemary as an ingredient, and that several of our products contain organic rosemary essential oil. In addition, our Hair & Scalp Serum contains rosemary water, which we've focused on in this blog post. (link)
